World Sindhi Congress Calls US Congressional Aid Bill to Pakistan, ‘A Step in the Right Direction'

LONDON, The World Sindhi Congress joined many civil society groups in praising the decision of the US congress to promote regional peace and civil society in Pakistan by conditionally allocating civilian and military aid to Pakistan, based upon the Pakistani government's adherence to democratic principles and international human rights agreements.

WSC TO CELEBERATE 104th  BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SAEEN G.  M. SYED

Houston, TX, February 10, 2008, G. M Syed Memorial Committee and World Sindhi Congress have jointly arranged a get-together in Houston on Saturday March 8, 2008 to commemorate the 104th birth anniversary of Saeen G. M. Syed, a reverent Sindhi leader who pioneered the Sindhi freedom movement. Over three decades, Mr. Syed was repeatedly detained in various Pakistani prisons without trial until his death in1995. The Amnesty International adopted him as a Prisoner of Conscience. Mr. Syed extensively wrote on Sindhi identity, Sindhi religious thoughts, and political situations in Sindh.

 

Every year GM Syed Committee and WSC organize this event in accordance to its continuing effort to reach out Sindhi community at large and to create awareness among the participants about the plights of Sindh and Sindhis around the world. This event also provides a forum for inter-community dialogue on social and cultural aspects of Sindhi identity. Several prominent community members are invited to attend this event in Houston. Speeches, a cake cutting ceremony and dinner are part of the program.
